They say blood is thicker than water but sometimes, the blood can run really thin. Frank Ocean’s father, Calvin Cooksey –nationally known as his deadbeat dad, is suing for $14.5 million for libel.
Mr. Cooksey filed the civil lawsuit on Thursday in Los Angeles. He claims that his son damaged his reputation and financial opportunities in the entertainment industry with his Tumblr post back in summer 2016 after the Pulse nightclub mass shooting in Orlando.
I’m trying to understand why does he need this much money? He must be going through an unemployment phase.
Also, didn’t he just got his last lawsuit thrown out in 2014? Mind you this was the same man that sued Russell Simmons for $142 million for calling him a deadbeat dad. The judge denied him his coin and paid him in dust.
This is nothing new because the coin seeker tried to sue Frank once before in 2012 for one million dollars.
In the Tumblr post from last year, Frank talked about how his father used a slur towards a transgendered waitress. Here’s what the post read:
“I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a faggot as he dragged me out a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty. That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t.”
Mr. Cooksey went to TMZ to let them know that the story is false and wants Frank to pay up. This man also called his own son a scam artist, fraud, and a hypocrite. He also went on to say that the post was a “publicity stunt in the wake of the Orlando attack.”
Cooksey’s rep said that Frank was aware that his father written a manuscript “Part of the Game.” They also say that he ruined his father’s reputation so he would never get a deal or produce the movie. That’s another W2 out of the window.
From the looks of it, Mr. Cooksey is a messy queen and comes off as greedy. If he felt some type of way about the post, why didn’t he filed a lawsuit back then instead of waiting early in the new year to stir up some more mess? No one wants to have a fallout like this with their own parents, especially if they’ve been absent throughout their childhood.
